Brink Lindsey
As Cato's vice president for research, Brink Lindsey helps to oversee the Institute's current research agenda and develops new research programs. From 1998 to 2004, he was director of Cato's Center for Trade Policy Studies, helping to make it a leading voice for free trade. An attorney with extensive experience in international trade regulation, Lindsey was formerly director of regulatory studies at Cato and senior editor of Regulation magazine. He is the author of "Against the Dead Hand: The Uncertain Struggle for Global Capitalism", and is currently working on a new book, "The Realm of Freedom: The Rise of Mass Affluence and How It Transformed American Culture, Politics, and Religion". Lindsey's writings have been published in the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, the New Republic, National Review, the Weekly Standard, and Journal of World Trade. He is a contributing editor at Reason magazine. He has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, BBC, NPR, and PBS. Lindsey holds an A.B. from Princeton University and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
